You know, promoting your web site is a thankless process. I spend
many an evening after work on the 'Net sending messages back and
forth on email discussion lists (with my signature file attached)
just trying to get those all-important page views. Me personally,
I live by the signature file, I have found that just using that
method I can get an increase in hits of about thirty percent. One
of the main difficulties I have in promoting my web site is that
it is not considered mainstream content. So, what do I do? I spend
a lot of time on email discussion lists, newsgroups and even the
occasional signing of guestbooks. Believe it or not that can be a
good way of promoting your site in itself, but we'll get into that
in a later edition.
As for today's issue of PromoteNewz, Carlos Rodriguez, the CEO of SolutionsFinder.com, is going to show us how we can get listed in some of the same directories and sites as our competition. Sincerely Patrick Stoddard, PromoteNewz Editor ![]()
This is a cost effective way to promote your web site. Just remember
to keep it to one page and include a header. Try to keep your
sentences short and to the point, and put your contact information
at the top. Make sure to make it sound like news and not an
advertisement.

Submitting your site to the search engines is not enough. Creating
meta tags is not enough. Doorway pages are the answer. Doorway pages
will create the entry points into your web site that will get your
site the high ranking you will need to attract visitors. Using the
Spider Logic code and your own template, you can create pages that
contain specific information for spiders. But, the same pages are
viewed differently by your web site visitors. This will allow you
to get the high ranking with the spiders for search phrases and
keywords that are most relevant to your site.

Analyzing web position has become a great part of online marketing.
During the last couple of months in the process of submitting new
projects, we have realized how difficult search engines and
directories since 1997 have made it to add/enter any type of
information to their database. In most cases, they're even charging
to add/enter content from users to provide "better content." Most of
the "big" companies online have grown at higher rates than the rest
of the 13,000,000 domain name holders, because they have a lot of
content. Developing Niche markets are much easier nowadays; you don't
have to compete against all their services and they don't have the
expertise to cover everything in great detail to compete with your
site. In most cases, if you do have the content they don't, the
Portals (Search Engines & Directories) are more inclined to
including your web site than otherwise. Well, here you have an option for this search engine traffic. When targeting traffic, people should track their online competitors, searching for quality, not quantity of visitors. Go to the major search engines, enter link:http://www.competitionwebsite.com in the search box and obtain where your direct competitors are listed within the Internet. You will be able to suggest your URL link where your clients are seeing your competition and would be more inclined to purchase your services/products, not surfing within 1,060,000,000+ pages of content on the Internet, where most of us are just a drop in the ocean. (This is considered a supplement to search engines submissions, which is very important as well). Some companies that have strong offline marketing usually rank average on the net and companies who rank highly online, usually don't spend that much in traditional advertising. The whole purpose of online marketing is getting to clients who don't know your business and compliment those who already know your company. The submitting, suggesting and indexing process may take 2-8 weeks, but will be well worth the effort. If you cannot get listed in the "big places" or if it takes time, now you know you can be seen in a lot more qualified places.
